Birth Announcement

It's official.  I'm a mom!

My baby girl was born into this world on July 11, 2013.  She arrived 5 weeks early and spent 8 days in the NICU before she could come home with us.  She is a strong little girl and has been growing at the same pace as any full-term baby.  My husband and I are learning how to be parents and so far we've done pretty well.  Admittedly, there were a couple frantic calls to the 24 hour nurse hotline, only to be told we were "doing just fine and had nothing to worry about."  We are madly in love with our little Sienna and we are enjoying watching her grow and change right before our eyes.

To commemorate the birth of our little one, I created this birth announcement to send out to our loved ones.  Simple and sweet.  Photo credit goes to my husband.

Printable "It's A Girl" Banner

This is a super easy DIY "It's A Girl" banner that I made for our baby shower.   Using decorative prints and patterns felt natural since I love making them.  And, being that it's a girl, I decided to stick with the pink color palette.  I had made a yellow version originally but found that once it was printed, the colors were too light and the patterns got lost when viewed from a distance.  I kept this pink in the coral family, so as not to be overly sweet or accidentally dip into the Pepto Bismol color pool.  (gross)

I think it turned out pretty nice.  Here it is in action:

I got a few complements from some of the party go-ers without them even knowing it was something I had made.  It's always nice when someone thinks you bought something you made yourself, don't ya think?  To me, this is by no means professional looking, but it was fun and easy and I think you can make this too!

Download this "It's A Girl" banner absolutely free.  Here is how:

You can print it on any printer using 8.5 x 11 inch card stock.  All you'll need is some string/twine/ribbon, scissors, clear tape and your print outs.

1.)  Click on the thumbnail image of the banner(below) to download.  It will open in another window on your internet browser. This is a 4 page PDF, so you will need Adobe Acrobat to read the file.
2.)  You can print right from that page or to save the download, right click the new image and select "Save As".  Choose the location where you would like to save the file.
3.)  Open your file from it's new location in your computer and Print on card stock.
4.)  Cut out each banner letter, fold the cardstock on the line near the top of each letter, arrange the letters in order on your string/ribbon/twine, place the twine in the fold and secure the back with some tape.  Space out the letters along the twine and hang up wherever you desire.

Enjoy!  because you know there will be no time for crafts after the baby arrives.  Well, at least not for a little while.

Happy Baby Shower, Pregos!

Simple Baby Shower Invitation

My parents and sister threw me a lovely baby shower back in June.  I whipped up a quick invitation for the event and was really pleased with the outcome.  It's simple and sweet.  My favorite part was adding the mama, daddy and baby bird family.
